Friday 11th March 2011-God, 2012 and my Essay Feedback
I was trying to get my research for my new project in order for most of the morning. The majority of projects I've done so far usually are in sketchbooks in which my brain has just burst onto the first few pages and the rest of the book will be trying to make sense of it! Not playing like that this time, from my initial 'mind map' (not allowed to say brainstorm anymore did I mention? Its apparently offensive to people with..Something I've forgotten!lol), anyways, from my ideas I put a page for the order of research. To make sure it stays in some kind of order. The problem was as soon as I start researching ideas, they get developed into something slightly different making the order even more hard to follow. I researched lots of information on the Mayans 'supposed end of the world' 2012 predictions. Some crap about religions and then I found this, the good person test! Ha! Just have a look at it when you can, it was coming up to my break time so I thought I'd have a laugh. If you play along and say yes to the first question and then answer no to any of the questions it basically guilts you into saying yes to every question and then tells you your going to hell unless you repent and become a bible bashing god botherer. I think I'll pass thanks. I was quite miffed for any weak minded people who might actually be silly enough to fall for or believe this crap. Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to do and believe what they want-within reason- but they don't have to scare or guilt trip others to join them in their eternal waste of time! Besides if God does exist, which he may, but we'll never know; one, he'd want us to be happy, two, he wouldn't want us to be scared or think that the worlds going to end every other year.
So off track then sorry about that, 3,2,1 back in the room. After lunch I awaited feedback from my art history lecturer. Then I wished I didn't shortly after getting it, it turned out that one artist, Joseph Solomon, that the majority of online sources consider to be a neo-classical artist, apparently isn't at all. So a good part of my essay was apparently inaccurate, that ticked me off a bit! Such is life, I'l just have to edit that bit so I can get my distinction, Think I'll want it to get into uni comfortably. Bloody artists and their silly bloody movements.
In other news my brother came to play poker with us tonight, it was really fun, I was almost winning at one point, but soon enough we got to a point where dad wiped the floor with everyone, and had to have a gloat! Was still funny.
Thursday 10th March 2011-New Project, Yay
I love starting new projects. Its so exciting! I have so many idea's at the beginning of projects and narrowing down ideas is always the tough part. I thought that if I started with a broad subject matter it'll be so much easier to choose what to make for the final piece. The original plan was to use an element of each project we had done so far and recreate the idea in a new way. This morning I sat down with my tutor and went over my mind map to see where the common link was between each idea. It seemed that the link was that the majority of ideas were related by the theme of the human condition, (how we live in a consumerist environment and what effect that has on the world) and how we treated animals and the planet in history. All good stuff.
The thing I love about making artwork is that, providing you have enough theory behind your work to back it up, you can make work about whatever you want, and its neither right or wrong. I love to create intricate and elaborate theories behind my work, makes it so much more interesting.
Soo couldn't wait to get home and sleep, as always!

Monday 7th March 2011- Long Time Waiting
I do not like waiting for things to show up. Even more I don't like waiting for things to turn up that don't! I spent the day waiting in for mi mans silly parcel so I couldn't really do a hell of a lot. Fia came and kept me company so it wasn't that bad. It was a bit random but thats always the way when we together. I was really expecting to go out and the parcel come but I didn't, and it didn't come. Typical! We mess around so much its so not good! Was supposed to be sorting my coursework out for mi crits this week but i really couldn't be bothered. Fia just distracts me! lol.
Wednesday 9th March 2011-Group Crits
With some very strange news from Sofia yesterday I thought it would be cool if she could come to college with me for the day. We picked her up in the morning and off we went. At college we signed her in and checked with my tutor that it was ok that she sat in on our crits, he said it was cool. I think that was because he knew that she'd been there and done it all before, so she knew what was involved.
It was fun, I really like doing crits because it gives us a chance to show our work off, and to discuss our opinions about each others work. My friends at college have some really cool ideas, but no one else seems to get involved in each others crits as much as I do, sometimes it seems like its just me and our tutor asking all the questions, and everyone else is staring into space, a couple of people will ask questions when prompted to, but I can tell they aren't really interested and are just waiting for their turn.
My crit was good though, I want people to ask questions, but at the same time I always make sure I answer most questions in the presentation. So I can't win, I like to fully explain my work before the questions then I wonder why no one asks me anything! Shooting myself in the foot really, I think its funny how everyone has so many ideas for improvement when the project has finished, think we need to advise each other during the project so we'd have a chance to consider developing our ideas. After feedback we were supposed to write a little note for each other to remember what had been said in our crits, but once again, i was one of the very few people that actually did it. With Fia being a guest for the day I think my tutor was quite shocked about how well she got involved. It was just like she never left! Brilliant.
We walked home for her to meet her driving instructor, and I went round to my friends to get some tutoring done. I like my job, still hard work but I like it.

Sunday 6th March 2011- Yummy Dinner and Chilling out
After a long day and a late night last night I really didn't want to get up today! When I did I had to get ready pretty quickly as we were off to mi mans parents for dinner, I love going to visit them. Its funny to see where mi man gets some of his traits from. Shouting at inanimate objects seems to run in the family! Sorry guys. I didn't laugh at the time but its pretty funny now.
It was a lovely day with them, after I dragged mi man away from watching football in the other room! I didn't really mind though, I was watching the Olympics with his parents and asking mum random questions about the pole vault!
On the way home we collected Sofia from her friends and we headed home to chill out for a bit. Well me and Fia did anyways, he went off to his mates to watch the second half of the match. All good fun,
Me and fia were having a laugh as usual, playing xbox and stuff. We didn't really do much the rest of the evening. Was still fun though.

Saturday 5th March 2011- Lie in, Walking and even more Drink
After a nice long lie in and a play fight (getting bitten and pushed out of the bed) I got up to have a bath before we figured out what to do for the day. shortly after getting out of the bath and getting ready I got a call from my dad saying there were on their way up to go for a walk, which I 'd almost forgot was suggested yesterday. Soon enough the parents were round and we were off on a walk to town, but apparently no one had told mum we were walking, and she'd worn her heels! With the boys marching off into the distance me and mum joked that they had the beer-dar switched on and they weren't going to wait for us!
A drink at the guildhall and we were off to Chambers. I like it in Chambers more than most places. We'd got our drinks and sat down when I realised someone had bought a magazine over with mi 'old friend' Ellie on the cover! What bugged me about this was we were all very supportive of her career when we used to train Capoiera together, then it was like as soon as she got one song released she forgot about all of us, even a little message to say how ya been woulda been cool, but no! I wish her all the best but I won't be thinking much about that 'friend' anymore.
After we'd finished our drinks we had to dash home as mum was off out to her friends house to watch movies this evening. As dad decided that he was going to mi man thought he'd be sociable also. Being allowed to go out with friends is a concept he wasn't used to in past situations. But i digress, with him off out I had the chance to go and catch up with some of my friends.
I spent a long time on the phone to a very close friend I haven't really had time to talk to for a while, we used to talk for hours everyday. now things have changed its good to talk when we can. Then I was off to mi friends to hav a few drinks and a chat about life. We started watching the film, Shutter Island, I really wanted to see the end but I had to leave when mi man got back. Was a really nice day still.

Friday 4th March 2011- Oh my brother!! You plum
The fact that everyone in my family has an idiot brother is an understatement. But I'll get to that in a minute.
I got most of my coursework done last night I thought I'd do the rest of it through critiques today.
When I got to college we had a lovely little chat-outside having a fag- about a certain couple of people who take the piss with the levels of work they Don't do and still get alright grades. We were saying how- when they actually come to college- these two come in an hour late and give some crap excuse as to why they late, then they take an hour of our tutors time because they've got so much to catch up on, then as soon as his back is turned they sit there playing on their phones! For those of us that always have our work done on time this is a major liberty as we feel like we should be given a break for actually being punctual. One girl i the year below us got her work in two weeks late and only got a pass regardless of the level of her work because it was late, I love that fact my tutor is good to us but after an amount of time of people using his good nature to their advantage it just becomes plain offensive!
When we got into our room we were all ready to start and my tutor brought up the same discussion we'd been having outside! Due to us all being ready to start our critiques he decided as the 'other two' were being given more time then so should we. I thought that was really good of him as he knows most of us don't take the piss.
Being given more time meant I could do my work without worrying about being rude through other peoples crits. I got my final piece done with and arranged in a way I could present it. Over lunch I started filling up my sketchbook with extra bits and pieces.
Around half one I got a call from my dad saying that my brother has had an accident at work, for a few split seconds between him saying this and the next sentence my heart sank! It turned out that a heavy roll of paper had fell on him and has broken his foot! As I'd already started packing up my stuff as soon as I heard the word accident I thought it best I got myself to the hospital to see he was ok. I walked down the hill from college to find a bus, as much as my feet were killing in my new heels I thought it would be no way near as much pain as my brother would be in right now! As the bus finally arrived I got to have a little detour all round what seemed like most of the area on the way, I wished it would just go where it was destined to go!
When I got to the hospital I was greeted by my brother saying, "What are you doing here?" I told him I was having a tea party and what the hell did he think I was doing there! Silly guy! His friend who was sitting with him told me how long they'd been there and what had been done so far. My brother then said that because I was there his friend could go if he wanted to. I wasn't sure what reaction I would get, or if he'd want me there but I was glad he did! I was asked if I was still supposed to be at college or if I was missing anything, I told him it didn't really matter that I missed a few hours this afternoon as I think it was more important to be there with him! It was fun wheeling him round in a wheelchair that he and his friend had apparently 'found' in the halls and 'borrowed for a little while! Once the inital shock was wearing off and the levels of adrenaline went down he was really starting to feel the pain. I've never seen him like that before, it was a bit scary! But I knew it would happen and he refused to take any pain killers while we were there because he just wanted to get home. He had been told he had broken two metatarcles and had to have a 2nd xray to see that his ankle was ok, and it was! Thank god! The only thing he was interested in was worrying about his holiday that is in three weeks, and getting a cast on so he could leave! At one point I asked him how he was planning to get up two flights of stairs to his room to which he replied, "I wasn't thinking about that, until now!" Ooopps!
With a little hiccup when dad came down scaring the nursey types as he was worrying we were soon bandaged up and ready to go. I got his letter for his follow up next week and we went to find dad in his lab. When I asked to see my dad (by his name I didn't say I want to see dad, cos that would be silly) the woman on reception said, "Are you his daughter?" I wonder how she knew?!
Soon we were packed into the car with crip and his crutches in tow.
Shortly after getting home I helped him wrap a bin bag around his cast so he could have a shower and he was off out to go see his mates. I thought I'd go see some good friends too while I was there too so I could tell them about the day. It was the last thing I had expected to happen today it really was. Round at my friends house we had a few well deserved drinks, as mi man came home from work I decided I wanted macdonalds. That was nice, I blame the alcohol! All was slightly hazy after that.
